A rare stamp. Cert. RPSL (1981) Gi = £ 600.rnrnProvenance: Collection Henry A. The overprinting was done and the stamps returned to the bank. The matter was referred to Major O'Meara who made efforts to recover the stamps. However, the Major's superior Officer, Colonel Williams, was president of Sidney Philatelic Society and it is more than likely that he, and others, shared the spoils, as most of the 50 examples of the 1 d. brown survived, whilst fewer of the initially more abundant 1 s. orange-yellow value (Gi. 110a) appear to have been donated to collectors but were, in actual fact, destroyed.
