    1803: Cover endorsed at base "Entregado / Delivered Mar 20 1803" and addressed at top "Registered on the Spanish Frigate 'La Fama' with a Cargo under Captain Depheniaha, to be despatched at the first Port for Havre de Grace and then presented to the Consul of N.O.  Franca / Paid", struck with oval framed NUEVA / ORLEANS handstamp in red (Tizon #1) with fine "YNDIAS" handstamp above, also in red. Exceptionally rare and one of the very few known cover bearing the Spanish New Orleans marking. An item of great importance for both Spanish Colonial and United States Postal History.
