The cover with rastel punches for disinfection but no cachet evident. A wonderful example of one of the rarest Russian Levant & Romanian pre-stamp postmarks.

    1861 (June 16): Prepaid cover from the Bucharest to Cherson in Southern Ukraine, mailed at the Russian Post Office with crisp BUCHAREST despatch cds well struck in blue on reverse (Tchilinghirian fig. 34). Obverse with Cherson arrival cds (June 25) in black. Superb quality and probably one of the finest covers recorded with this rare marking - the earliest recorded date of use.
