French P.O. in Alexandria 1866: 1 pi. claret, a used example tied to 1866 combination cover to London by "Poste Vice-Reali Egiziane / Zagasik" cds (April 12), sent via French P.O. in Alexandria with 1863 10 c. bistre and 40 c. orange lightly struck with ''5080' gros chiffres. Underpaid as found to be over 7½ grams (French single rate, whereas the Egyptian single rate was under 10 grams, thus this letter probably weighed over 7½ and under 10). Framed "Affranchisement / Insuffisant" in black and reverse with London arrival cds (April 23) where charged as unpaid at 1/6d.
