    1890 (Nov 12): Letter from the Imperial British East Africa Co. to the editor of the Daily Graphic in the Strand, London attaching examples of the 1890 ½ a. brown, 1 a. blue-green, 2 a. vermilion, 8 a. blue and 1 r. grey, each handstamped "SPECIMEN" in violet (Samuel type BEA 1), the letter stating that the I.B.E.A. Co. would be obliged if the stamp issue could be reported in the Graphic and the writer hopes that the Editor will find the stamps of interest.
