    Recess by De La Rue 1863/66: 5 d. red-brown in a horizontal pair, wmk. Crown CC type 5, perf. 12½, used on 1866 cover from Hapootelie (Haputale) to Weymouth, England endorsed "Via Marseilles" at single rate, cancelled by barred obliterators in black. "HAPOOTELIE / PAID" cds in red below (May 21) and "Colombo / Paid" cds of transit (May 24) in red on obverse and Weymouth arrival (July 4) in black on reverse. Corner fault to one stamp but an attractive cover.
