    Recess by Perkins Bacon 1857/59: 5 d. chestnut, wmk. Star, imperforate, a used example in a deep shade, close to large margins all round, used on 1857 'Asia Rate' cover to Macau tied by barred obliterator in black. Late usage of "BRITISH PACKET POSTAGE" datestamp in black below (rare, only in use on stamped covers during 1857), reverse with "GALLE / STEAMER POSTAGE" in black (Sept 5) with fair only HONG KONG cds (Sept 19) alongside; obverse with '1' credit of Hong Kong. File folds away from adhesive but a rare cover and believed to be a unique usage to Macau.rnProvenance: Collection R.C. Agabeg, Harmers, London, 20 May 1982, lot 2101.
