1854: Envelope from the French Army during the 1859 Italian War of Independence, sent from the Fieldpost to Flagey-lès-Auxonne, bearing Napoléon imperf. 20 c. blue Type I, a superb sheet marginal example with large to enormous margins, tied by fair "AAL" grill obliterator, matching despatch "ARMÉE DES ALPES .. 21 MAI 59" cds alongside. Reverse with ambulant and AUXONNE arrival (May 24) cds's. Some staining, a rare usage few days prior to the battle of Magenta. Cert. Roumet (1994) Maury = € 880.
