    1849: Registered cover from Geelong to Portland rated '1 s.' prepaid in manuscript, struck with fine framed "PAID AT / GEELONG" handstamp in red and manuscript "Registered" in red ink applied over "AT / GEELONG" below. Reverse with "GEELONG / ♕ / PORT PHILLIP" in black (July 29), weak Melbourne transit and Portland arrival. The sole recorded usage of a Victoria handstamp applied in this manner to create a registration marking. Unique.rnProvenance: Collection J.R.W.
