1926/40: Baghdad - Haifa Overland Mail - Selection of twenty covers / envelopes, bearing diff. types of Overland Mail labels and cachets in magenta or violet, incl. some registered usages, manuscript endorsements, incl. two scarce acceptances from Persia and one from Bahrain (envelope defective) handstamped by violet single-line OVERLAND cachet showing Basra and Hondo transit markings on reverse. After WWI, the Nairn Brothers, two New Zealanders who had served in the E.E.F., decided to re-establish the old caravan route across the desert and to ferry passengers and mail.
