1843: 60 r. grey-black, worn impression, just shaved at lower right with close to good margins all round, used on the obverse of 1843 entire letter (written August 17) from Rio de Janeiro to Villa de Pirahy and tied by bold strike of CORREIO GERAL DA CORTE datestamp (19/8) in black. A stamp rarely found applied to the front of a cover and an exceptional and very early usage in the third week of issue (the earliest known cover where the date can be confirmed by the postmark) with only one earlier cover recorded - where the date is only identifiable in manuscript by the content.
