1912 (June 14): Scott, Robert Falcon Capt. (1868-1912) - Menue card (skillfully repaired) of the Farewell Dinner given to Capt. Scott and Officers of the Terra Nova Expedition, at the Royal Hotel by the Members of the Commercial Community of Cardiff, Monday 13th June 1910 with pencil signature of R. Capt. Scott, Lieut. Edward 'Teddy' Wilson Navigation Officer and Frederick Hooper among others. Scott left two days later Cardiff with a Crew of 65 men on his Ship 'Terra Nova' June 15th to his last expedition to the South Pole, from where he never returned. (1868-1912) - Handwritten and autographed letter (March 22, 1908) mentioning the 'Discovery' and his main rival Shakleton, who was on his Nimrod Expedition (1907-1909), further New Zealand 1911 horizontal overprint VICTORIA LAND. in two lines on 1/2 d. green tied by clear strike of "BRITISH ANTARCTICA EXPD. NZ MR 4 09" in black and two copies with VICTORIA LAND overprint on 1 d. carmine issued for Scott's Terra Nova Expedition, both tied by "BRITISH ANTARCTIC EXPD. NZ 9 FE 11" with further 1954 Australia 3 1/2 d. cancelled by "MAWSON A.N.R.E. AUST. ANTARCTIC TERR 16 FE 55" (Mawson Station established 1954) and addressed to Christchurch NZ. Envelope vertically folded away from stamps. An outstanding cover documenting three diff. expeditions.
