1898 (May 15): 4 c. on 8 c. pale green postal stationery card (H&G 12) mailed to Singapore from the Pitas Estate, via Kota Belud and cancelled on despatch by extremely rare GAYAH datestamp in black (Proud D3). Thence with two strikes of LABUAN transit (May 18 and May 20) to Singapore with arrival datestamp (May 24). Gayah had earlier been ransacked by pirates (July 9, 1897) and was partially rebuilt. However, a new site for a capital was commenced at Gantian in December 1898 prior to it's removal to Jesselton with the advent of the Railway. A remarkable and extremely rare card.
