    New Southwales 1855 (Jan 22): Large part entire letter from Sydney to Altona, Holstein, Denmark; endorsed "Overland Mail" and franked by cut square 1854 6 d. greenish grey tied in black. Red circular "Australie / 2 Marseille 2" entry marking on front (March 31) and manuscript "15" (schillinge) in red crayon alongside. Scarce cover to an unusual destination. Signed Pothion.

    Lot# : 911 New South Wales

    1860 (Aug 14): Cover from Eden to Wandsbeck, Holstein via Hamburg with Daidem perf. 2 d. blue and 6 d. grey (2) all cancelled by "94" numeral obliterators, via London with faint cds and manuscript "8" pence share of rate; italic 'fr. Hbg.' without frame at lower left (Van Der Linden fig. 1557). Reverse with Danish P.O. in Hamburg cds (Oct 4). Carried on the P&O 'Salsette' to Galle, the 'Columbian' to Alexandria and thence on the 'Ripon'. Manuscript '4' skilling due from recipient for Danish share. Some cover imperfections but a scarce destination.

    1878 (Jan 21): Cover from Sydney endorsed "via Brindisi" to England, franked by 1860/72 8 d. yellow-orange, perf. 13, from base of sheet tied by Sydney duplex in black. Reverse with Slough arrival (March 10) datestamp in black. A fine and scarce cover.
