    1861 (15 June): Stampless folded letter, struck with red "BATHURST / GAMBIA / PAID" split-ring (25 Jun), to New York, rated 1/2 in red, "LIVERPOOL - BR. PACKET" (9 Jul) and "NEW ZORK AM PKT" (25 Jul) transit markings on front, black "5" credit handstamp, typical filing folds, a scarce trans-Atlantic cover from Gambia carried via an American packet.

    1870: Stampless folded cover, struck with blue oval sender's cachet "VICTOR BARRERE / BATHURST / RIVIERE GAMBE / COTE OCCIDENTALE D'AFRIQUE", rated 7d. in manuscript postmarked with red GAMBIA c.d.s. (30 Dec), to Bordeaux, France,. endorsed "p. Athenian" and conveyed via London (15 Jan) and Calais (15 Jan), next-day c.d.s. arrival backstamp, fine and scarce.  The 4d. and 6d. adhesives were issued in March, 1869, but the 7d. rate could continue to be prepaid in cash until 1880.

    1906 (13 Feb): Postcard franked with 1d. carmine, tied by Bathurst c.d.s. (16 Feb), struck at lower left with clear "Maccarthy Island / Gambia" (Proud D2) despatch c.d.s. (13 Feb), to Nogent Sure Marne, France, with c.d.s. receiver (23 Oct), corner crease, a rare postmark, known used only to 31 October, 1906.rnProvenance: Collection Ted Proud.

    Gambia 1933/1939, Group of three air mail covers carried on Deutsche Lufthansa network, comprising 1935, cover from Gambia to London, franked to 10 s., carried by Dornier Wal flying boat "Samum", with 'Gambia-England Air Mail' cachet, a 1939 London to Bathurst, Gambia cover, franked with single 9 d. carried on flight L437 to South America which stopped in Gambia, and 1933 commercial envelope from Tunisia to Görlitz, franked to 3 f., initiallly carried on an Air Union service before being transferred to Lufthansa network from Marseille, some flaws, otherwise fine, a scarce group.
