    1742c.: Cover from New York addressed to the "Rt. Honourable George Thomas Esq., Lieutenant Governor and Commander in Chief of the Provice of Pennsylvania and the Counties of New-Castle, Kent and Sussex on the Delaware, in Philadelphia" with manuscript "NY dust 9:-" at top in ink. Interior of cover with notes regarding payments. Thomas was Deputy Governor of Pennsylvania from 1738-1747. Rare.

    1857 (Jan 10): Cover from Annapolis to La Spezzia, Kingdom of Sardinia, bearing 1856 Jefferson 5 c. brown imperf., a fine adhesive with good to large margins, shaved at base, tied by crisp "ANNAPOLIS Md." cds in black, "GB / 1F 60C" accountancy handstamp and French "ETATS-UNIS PAQ. BRIT. CALAIS 27 JANV. 57" entry cds, both in black alongside. Reverse with "BOSTON Br PKT 14 JAN" transit cds in black, LONDON transit cds in red and GENOVA transit datestamp in red (Jan 30 57). Charged upon arrival “10” (decimi), which include Sea rate, English and French transit and Sardinia postage, some staining, otherwise a fine and scarce usage to Sardinia. Scott = $ 1'200 on domestic cover.

    1867: 30 c. orange, with grill, used on 1869 cover from New York to Paris endorsed "pr. Russia, French Mail", tied by bold strike of circular segmented cork handstamp in black. "NEW YORK / PAID 12" cds of despatch and red 'PD' with Calais entry marking (Jan. 17) in red. Slight soiling but a very rare stamp on letter Scott = $ 2'000.

    1857/1930: Small accumulation of United States and areas oddments, many of which are unusual such as two post cards from China respectively dated 1919 and 1922, the former with censor. The Shanghai Overprints are represented to 40c, the 20c orange and 24 red both with clear parcel Roller 'SHANGHAI CHINA', Hawaiian postal stationery, nearly fifty private despatch stamps and several Telegraph proofs. The quality is mixed as usual, with good and bad both present.

Mollison on his first solo record flight from Dublin to New York, signed by himself with endorsed "Carried by me on first first Transatlantic solo East-West crossing'. On front with golden Dublin City Seal with adjacent endorsement of Alfred Byrne, Lord Mayor of Dublin' at left, plus another smaller red seal of St. John signed Jas. W. Britain Mayor of St. John, New Brunswick with endorsed 'received Aug.19/32'. On reverse with the golden New York City Seal and 'received at New York by T.H. Ayder Aug. 21/32' in manuscript, in absence of Mayor Jimmy Walker. An attractive and rare cover. One of only seven covers carried.

    1931/32: Lou Reichers Atlantic Attempt Newark - Harbourg Grace - (Dublin - Paris) with his Lockheed Altair NR998Y, named 'Miss The Liberty", to beat Charles Lindbergh's record time with a crash landing 50 miles off the Irish coast. Souvenir cover from Newark (May 12 1931) signed by Lou Reichers, grouped with many newspapers clips, oringinal photographs of the plane and Lou Reichers. Of the twenty planes attempting transatlantic record flights from Harbour Grace between 1927 and 1936, only the Liberty was successfully rescued at sea.

    1934 (Dec. 19): Amelia Earhart envelope No. 46/50 of her Trans-Atlantic Solo Record Flight New Foundland to Ireland 1932 (May 20/21), franked with Air Mail 5 c. tied by New York Grand Central duplex cancellation May 13, violet special cachet, additionally franked on arrival with GB 1½ d. with Londonderry cancellation (May 23), signed by the Avaitrix at lower left. Envelope returned to USA 1934 and saved from the American Airline crash while landing at Buffalo N.Y., December 19,1934 en route from Newark to Chicago with special cachet on reverse: "DAMAGE DUE TO / AIR MAIL INTERRUPTION / AT / BUFFALO NY DEC 19 1934" in violet. An outstanding item, only two in existance to date, numbered 43/50 and the above described No. 46/50. Cert. E. Diena (1992) AAMC (1966) No.34.11.

    1791 (March 4): Printed document Law / Decree No. 402 of the National Assembly with printed "La Loi et Le Roi" Crown and Flags illustration at top, concerning the status of Officers who have not rejoined their regiments and soldiers and officers who had served in the American Revolution and in other foreign armies, issued in preparation of the 'Revolutionary Wars' which commenced in April 1792; signed off at base at Chinon.
