Indian Post Offices abroad - Penang 1857 (Dec 21): Unpaid Entire letter, date lined Penang and directed to Marseille, front struck by merchant's cachet "MATHIEU & Cie / PULO-PINANG" in blue, framed "INDIA UNPAID" handstamp in black and French "PAYS ETR. V. SUEZ MARSEILLE 26 JANV. 58" entry cds in red. Charged with '8' (décimes) due upon arrival. Used in Straits Settlements 1856/64: India 2 a. dull pink and 8 a. carmine, Die I (Gi Z30+Z35), used on 30 August 1862 entire letter from Penang, endorsed "via Marseilles" to Warrington, England tied by octagonal "B/147" obliterators in black with fine circular "PENANG / P.O." datestamp (Sept 5) in red below. Imperial Airways Crash of Short S.23 'CENTURION' at Hoogly River, Calcutta 1939 (June 12): Group of six crash covers from Burma and Malaya bearing 'SALVAGED MAIL / EX. CENTURION" cachets in red, including one with misspelt "EX. CENTURIA" variety (Nierinck type c) from Malaya and two matching covers from Penang showing inverted 'D' variety (Nierinck type d), further two stationeries and one cover from Rangoon, Burma of which one with M.P.480 label and the envelope with 'CENTURIO' variety with missing 'N'.
