    1859 (March 20): Cover from Susteren via Maastricht to Tourcoing, endorsed "Echantillon sans valeur", bearing horizontal pair 1852 Willem 15 c. orange, a superb multiple with large even margins, tied by clear FRANCO - halfrond datestamp of Maastricht. The cover was given to the postal service at the small agency of SUSTEREN nearby Maastricht, a corresponding single-line handstamp was struck to the reverse. It was franked in Maastricht, a "P.D." handstamp was struck to the obverse as well as a French "PAYS BAS 21 MARS 59 LILLE" entry cds, both in red. Reverse shows a partial TOURCOING arrival (March 22) cds. A most appealing cover, the franking paying correctly the 30 cents rate to France with the mention "Sample without value" without any impact on the postal rate. Signed Calves; cert. KNBF (1997).

    1865 (May 15): Cover from Rotterdam to Belfast bearing a horizontal strip of three 1864 Willem 15 c. orange, a fine and fresh multiple, primarily well perforated (two nibbed perfs), each adhesive tied by framed FRANCO handstamp, ROTTERDAM despatch cds and London transit (May 17) cds, both in red alongside. Reverse with BELFAST arrival (May 18) cds in black. Vertical file fold away from the adhesives, cover with some wrinkles but an appealing usage to Ireland.rnProvenance: 100. Cover with vertical fold, but an interesting usage.

    1870 (June 22): Double rate Envelope from the Nederlandsche Palmitine-Fabriek in Amsterdam to Torino bearing 1867 Willem 50 c. golden, type I, a fine and fresh example with good perforation and deep vibrant colour, tied by dotted '5' numeral, AMSTERDAM despatch cds and "P.D." handstamp in black alongside. Reverse with indistinct TORINO arrival cds as well as distribution cachets. A rare and splendid usage, the Corinphila card index knows two other covers from the same index, signed Renato Mondolfo; cert. E. Diena (1988).

    1874 (Jan 31): Cover from Amsterdam to Genova, bearing Netherlands 1872 5 c. ultramarine (Mi 19) in a horizontal strip of four, tied by mute grill obliterator, AMSTERDAM despatch cds alongside. Obverse struck in addition by circular "REGISTRO ITALIANO CRISTOFORO COLOMBO AMSTERDAM" cachet in blue, depicting the explorer. Reverse with GENOVA arrival cds (Feb 3) and distribution cachet. Some minor acid ink limitations, nevertheless a most attractive cover.
