1850 (June 7): Cover from the domaine privé royal de Berg in Mersch to Trier, Prussia bearing 1853 1 sgr. rose, fresh and fine with large to huge margins all round, tied by circular mute obliterator with six bars in black used only in Mersch, MERSCH despatch cds and framed PD in black alongside, reverse with LUXEMBOURG transit cds and boxed TRIER arrival datestamp of the same day. One backflap missing, nevertheless an appealing cover correctly franked for the first weight rate in the first rayon of the German-Austrian Postal Union. 1878 (June 4): Double rate Registered envelope from the postal administration in Luxemburg to Berlin bearing a mixed franking of 1865 Arms 20 c. brown with coloured roulette and 1875 12½ rose perforated in a block of four, a fine and fresh multiple, the design shifted to the top right, tied by clear strikes of LUXEMBURG despatch cds with information strike and framed RECOMMANDÉ alongside. In Germany a "Vom Ausland / über Bahnpost 12 / (Pagny - Metz) / Eingeschrieben" railway registration label for registered mail from abroad was added to the obverse. Reverse with distribution cds.
