    1916 (Oct 19): 1 d. scarlet, an unused example, marginal from base of sheet, showing variety "19.10.16 Omitted" with red and black overprint bars running though the base of stamp and the margin respectively, fresh appearance, browned unmounted og. See the Stanley Gibbons footnote - this variety only exists from one sheet where the overprint was misplaced leaving the lower horizontal row only without the date overprint. Extremely rare Gi = Listed but unpriced.

    1917 (May): War Tax ½ d. bluish green, an unused horizontal pair, marginal from base of sheet, variety "Pair, One Without Overprint", creased across the un-overprinted stamp which shows part of the 'War Tax' overprint on the gum where the sheet was creased during printing, creating the variety. Extremely rare, from the larger multiple originally in the Marquess of Bute collection, unmounted og. Rare. Cert. RPSL (1972) Gi = £ 1'500.rnProvenance: Collection W.A.
