PRIV. / GESELLSCAFT / ODESSA datestamp in blue (Tchilinghirian fig. 833 / Müller 7026d). A rare cancellation on a rare stamp - this stamp was almost entirely used within Bulgaria. Hammer price : 140 CHF

    Lot# : 3800 DDSG

Danube Steam Navigation Co 1844 (Aug 28): Entire letter from Braila to Constantinople struck with circular "D.D.S.G. / IBRAILA / P.P." in blue ink (Tchilinghirian fig. 802). A light strike of this exceptional handstamp: the much more available oval Agency marking with gothic 'Ibraila' came into use shortly after this date, the Lloyd Agency and Consular Office only opened in September 1845 - an extremely elusive marking.
