    1812 (Jan 23): Entire letter from Asuncion to Buenos Aires struck with PARAGUAY straight line handstamp in red with '1½' (reales) manuscript rate. A very fine strike and scarce thus.

    1854 (May 7): Entire letter from Asuncion to Corrientes, endorsed "por ubsequio del Sr. Dn. Pedro Rivas" at lower left, struck with fine strike of oval framed "ADMON GRAL / DE / CORREOS / DE LA R. DEL P." handstamp in brown. Exceptional for this marking and letter with interesting contents.

    1870 (Aug): 1 r. rose, a used example with ample to large margins all round, used on 1877 entire letter from Asuncion to Buenos Aires tied by bold ASUNCION datestamp (Feb 15) in black. Buenos Aires arrival cds (Feb 20) on reverse. File fold well away from the adhesive, a very rare and appealing #1 cover.

    1870 (Aug): Lion 2 r. deep bright blue, an unused block of four, marginal from base of sheet with large even margins all round, covered thin and slight iron spot on one stamp not affecting the dramatic appearance, superb large part og.     1879/81: 5 c. red-brown, a horizontal pair used on 1882 cover to Magdeburg, Germany tied by "CORREOS DEL ASUNCION / *" handstamp in black with 'Asuncion' datestamp adjacent, reverse with Buenos Aires transit cds (Oct 5) and Magdeburg arrival (Nov 5). A very scarce issue on cover Scott = $ 525.

    1899: 'Provisiorio / 10 / centavos' on 15 c. orange, two sheet marginal examples on 1899 cover to Basel, Switzerland tied by very scarce straight line "Santa Maria de las Missiones" handstamp and by circular "Correos / Paraguay" handstamp in black (without date). Reverse with Asuncion cds (April 19), Rio de Janeiro transit (May 3) and Basel arrival cds (May 21).

    1871: Official cover headed 'S.P.' at top, mailed from Asuncion to Montevideo with oval 'Administracion de Correos del Paraguay / Asuncion' in blue and struck with "Asuncion" cds (Oct 22) in blue alongside. Tax indicated with pencil '20' at left but probably not taxed on arrival as addressed to the Postmaster General of Uruguay. Part flap missing on reverse but scarce.
