1863: St. George & Dragon, 3 s. imperforate Plate Proof in a vertical pair with, for this, large margins all round, engraved by Alfred Bock in black on unwatermarked white wove paper. An exceptional and extremely rare multiple - see 'Stamps of Tasmania' where Basset Hull states that in 1889 Bock had the 5 s. and 10 s. Proof values still available but would not part with his sole example of the 3d: "which I think is the best of the series".Starting bid : 600 CHFHammer price : 600 CHFLot# : 1519H Tasmania
1863: St. George & Dragon, 5 s. imperforate Plate Proof in a horizontal pair with large margins all round, engraved by Alfred Bock in black on unwatermarked white wove paper, usual horizontal bend not detracting from the stunning appearance. Extremely rare with just one Proof sheet struck thus.Starting bid : 500 CHFHammer price : not soldLot# : 1519I Tasmania
1863: St. George & Dragon 2 s. 6 d. carmine, a used example from lower left corner of the sheet imperforate on two sides and perf. 10 at top and at right, the left margin showing partial "Scrolling" in pale orange, lightly cancelled in ink. Just 250 sheets were printed in Hobart in October 1863, thus this positional piece is extremely rare with just three examples recorded shwoing the marginal scrolling.Starting bid : 500 CHFHammer price : not soldLot# : 1519J Tasmania
