    New South Wales. 1889 (Dec 24): Germany 10 pf.+ 10 pf. carmine reply stationery card used from Baden-Baden (3/11) to Sydney, reply half attached and used back together with New South Wales 6 d. rosine tied by Sydney duplex. A fine and rare early usage. Note: The reply paid system for Postal Stationery cards was raised at the 1885 Lisbon Congress and ratified at the 1891 Vienna Congress, with countries who did not issue the cards bound to accept them from other member countries as pre-payment. The card above was used in the 'voluntary' period prior to this treaty being formerly accepted by all members.
