1865 (Sept 29): Great Britain 1865 4 d. vermilion pl. 7, a used example tied to 1865 entire letter from Cartagena to New York by superb strike of the "C56" obliterator in black. Reverse with partial double arc 'Cartagena' datestamp and single ring COLON transit (Oct 4). Charged on arrival (docketed Oct 26) with circular '10' cents due for incoming Ship Letter. 1856 (March 5): Entire letter from Panama to Bogotá addressed to Tomas Mosquera, President of Colombia 1842-1845, carried privately from Panama to Colon where prepaid '4d.' in red crayon and struck with superb "♚ / PAID / AT / COLON" handstamp in red with equally superb double arc COLON datestamp displaying well on reverse (March 10) in red and rare thus. Transferred to the Colombian Post and struck with oval framed CARTAGENA / DEBE in red with corresponding '1½' charge marking adjacent. 1865 (Sept 19): Entire letter from Santa Martha to New York struck with superb "♚ / PAID / AT / SANTA MARTHA" handstamp struck in red with manuscript prepayment '4' (pence) in red crayon alongside. Reverse with single ring 'Santa Martha' cds (Sept 19, code 'U' the 'C' inverted) and 'Colon' transit (Sept 24, code A) in black. 1872 (June 15): Entire letter from Bucuramanga to New York, carried privately to Santa Martha where mailed with Great Britain 1865 4 d. vermilion pl. 12, tied by "C62" obliterator in black. British P.O. single ring 'Santa Martha' cds (June 29) and 'Colon' cds (July 3) both in black alongside. 'N.Y. Steamship / 10' charge marking (July 17) also on obverse. 1872 (Dec): Cover from Bogotá to Hartford, CT, USA franked initially by Colombia 1868 imperf. 10 c. lilac and 20 c. blue with 1870 5 c. orange-yellow (Scott 54, 55, 62), cancelled by 'BOGOTÁ' framed despatch handstamp in blue and by "F69" Savanilla obliterator in black, Great Britain 1865 4 d. vermilion applied for onwards transmission also tied by superb strike of the "F69" obliterator. SAVANILLA cds at left (Jan 1, year omitted) at left and single ring COLON transit cds (Jan 4, 1873) in black of transit. 'N.Y. Steamship / 10' charge marking of receipt (Jan 25) and manuscript "Due 10" in blue crayon. File fold away from adhesives but in this describer's opinion the finest of the very few Colombia / GB combination covers. Unique. Cert.
