    Lithographed by Van der Sandt, Villiers & Co. 1884 (Feb 29): 1 d. red, a used vertical pair used on 1885 'interim period' cover to Venterstad, CGH, cancelled in manuscript "19-6-85" on despatch in ink with BARKLY / CGH transit cds (22 June 1885) at right and manuscript "4d." at upper left of cover. Reverse with KIMBERLEY cds, BURGHERSDORP transit datestamp (June 24) and Venterstad arrival of the following day. See the article in the 'London Philatelist', March 1992 on page 101:58, this being cover #5 of the 13 listed in the Dr. Drysdall census, mailed just a week before the famous 'Canada' combination cover. Stellaland stamps remained in use until the stamps of British Bechuanaland were introduced in Vryburg on 2 December 1885.
