    1867: 1 real dark red, a horizontal pair used on 1874 entire letter from San Salvador to Guatemala City at single rate, cancelled by 'San Salvador' datestamps with "San Salvador / Salvador" datestamp at left well struck in blue (April 13) with the date inserted by hand. A fine and extremely rare first issue entire. Certificates E. Diena (1978) and Moorhouse (2013).

    1867: 2 r. green, a used example tied to 4 Nov 1871 entire letter from San Miguel to the Italian Consul in Guatemala by two strikes of dotted circular mute handstamps in black. Repair to perforations around the adhesive but an extraordinarily scarce, correctly rated, first issue franking.

    1874: 2 r. green, optd. by small 'Contra Sello 1874' in black, a horizontal pair used on 1878 cover to Bordeaux cancelled by lozenge of dots handstamp in black with "Administracion de Correos / La Union" datestamp of despacth at left (Feb 24). British P.O. "Panama" single ring transit cds (March 5) in black and thence via London. Struck with "T" marking in blue (Salvador joined the UPU on April 1, 1879) and taxed on arrival in France (April 2) with handstruck '34' décimes charge marking in black, deleted as double rate and charged '22' décimes. Some peripheral ageing but a very rare issue on letter.

    1897 (March): Coat of Arms 5 c. rose, gold, blue & green, single example and a horizontal pair used on 1897 cover to Berlin, all tied by violet San Salvador cds (March 8) struck in violet. Reverse with 'NY Foreign Transit' cds (April 1) and Berlin arrival cds. Tiny opening tear at top well away from the adhesives, a very early usage of a scarce issue on letter.
