    1830 (Aug 25): Entire letter from La Guaira to Bordeaux struck with fine REPUBLICA DE CO / Guayra / Franca' in red (Colombia removed as Venezuela had separated from Gran Colombia and become an Independent State in January 1830), struck on arrival with fine PAYS D'OUTREMER / PAR BORDEAUX in black. Reverse with Paris arrival cds (Oct 15).

    1840 (Jan 22): Entire letter from Caracas to London with fine strike of large framed Forwarding Agent cachet of VALENTIN SALBOCH Y CA applied in La Guayra, oval "Guayra / Franca" handstamp in red below. Charged 2/3 d. due in manuscript on arrival in London (March 22) and rate checked by Inspector's Crown handstamp in red. Rate was found to be correct and '2/3d.' to pay again written at top. Entire opens well for display, a scarce usage. Opinion Holcombe (1990).

    British Post Offices 1844/59: Entire letters (3) with 1844 entire struck on reverse with British P.O. PORTO-CABELLO cds in red (usual watery strike) and framed 'Colonies / &c. ART 12' to Bordeaux (signed Holcombe), 1850 cover with superb LA-GUAYRA datestamp in red and 'Colonies / &c. ART 13' in red; 1859 entire to Hamburg with superb PORTO-CABELLO datestamp in black. All open for display well, a scarce and fine trio.

    1847: Entire letter from La Guaira to Cadiz, mailed with both Venezuelan LA GUAYRA / FRANCA circular handstamp in red, thence via British P.O. with LA-GUAYRA cds (April 7) in red to London (charged 1 s. due in manuscript) and forwarded by Zulueta & Co (May 9) on to Cadiz, Spain and prepaid '10' (pence) in red manuscript. Charged '11R.' reales due on receipt in Cadiz (May 20). A colourful and unusual entire that displays well.

    Postal Fraud 1865 (July 12): Eagle definitive ½ r. orange Postal Forgery, with fresh colour and good to large margins, tied by "ADMON LA GUAIRA JUL 12" cds to entire letter dated 'Julio 12 865' and mailed to Caracas. Entire toned and with archive crease but an extremely rare usage of this Postal Forgery on entire letter. See 'Estampillas de Venezuela' by Santiago Hernandez R. on page 109 for further information.

    1879 (May 17): Entire letter to Paris franked to the port with single 1876 ½ r. rose cancelled by negative 'Corre / La Guaira' handstamp in black, carried by French Paquebot, taxed on arrival with blue PAYS ETRANG. / PAQ. REG. PARIS (Salles fig. 1642) and triangular 'T' marking alongside '12' décime charge mark all in blue.rnrnNote: Venezuela did not join the UPU until January 1, 1880.
