    1882: 3 st. orange & yellow, a fine used block of four with variety: 'Background Inverted', cancelled by complete 'Varna' datestamp (22.VII.83) in black. Cert. Karaivanoff (1954) Mi = EUR 14'000.

    Note: An extraordinary block - there are now two blocks of four of this stamp in used condition (the other in the Paprikoff collection also in this sale). This describer was under the impression the Paprikoff multiple was unique until this item was consigned late to this sale. The blocks are cancelled ten days apart.
