    Thurn & Taxis 1850 (Sept 18): Cover from Sydney to Frankfurt on Main endorsed 'p. the Ajax for London', franked for the outgoing Ship rate with NSW 1850 3 d. yellow-green, four large margins, tied by bold strike of the dumb obliterator in black, with fair Crown PAID SHIP LETTER / SYDNEY datestamp in red below. London cds of arrival (Feb 20, 1851) in red and the manuscript '8' Ship Letter charge deleted, the letter being struck in transit on reverse with framed AMERICA per ENGLAND applied in Aachen (Van Der Linden fig. 112). Charged on arrival (Feb 23) with manuscript '18½' groschen to pay. A fine and rare cover to an unusual destination. Signed Holcombe.
