    Pachuca ½ r. black on buff, a fine single example used on 1862 cover from Mineral Del Monte to Mexico City, manuscript dated at top 'Abril 12', the adhesive tied by fine strike of two line FRANCO / MIN. DEL MONTE handstamp (Schatzkes fig. 1132) in red. Reverse with oval Mexico arrival datestamp (April 14) in black. The ½ real rate applied to printed circulars and this cover has been sealed prior to posting, thus it has to be assumed that in spite of the insufficient postage the cover was indeed mailed and accepted. Single frankings of the 1861 ½ real are rarities. Cert. Jaretzky (1985).
