    Campeche 8 r. red-lilac, four fine overlapping examples, three showing a double District overprint, one struck in red and the other in black, the first 8 r. with just a black District overprint, used on small piece in combination with fine 2 r. yellow green without District overprint. The adhesives all cancelled by oval '0' handstamps in black (Schatzkes unrecorded) and somewhat obscuring the overprints, perhaps deliberately, but leaving the Hidalgo vignette clear on each stamp. Campeche received just 720 of the 8 r., of which 192 were returned unsold. An unusual and rare piece, the sole recorded example of the 8 reales adhesive with a double overprint in two colours. Cert.
