    Tepeji Del Rio 2 r. emerald, large margined example of this scarce shade overprinted 'Mexico', used on August 26, 1857 cover from Tepeji to Mexico City, the adhesive crossed by ironed file fold, tied by good strike of extremely rare FRANCO EN / TEPEXI DE RIO handstamp (Schatzkes fig. 1617) in red. Repeated superb strike alongside at right. An extremely rare cover: Tepeji had received just 120 of the 2 r. stamps from Mexico City (Invoice 35 of August 30, 1856) and only one other cover (Köhler 1979) and an undated front (ex Mazepa, lot 5473) are recorded.
