    1'000 r. grey, horizontal strip of three used with 300 r. bistre on underpaid Boris Frères cover to Paris, annotated at '17' times rate at top left and thus short paid by 100 reis, the adhesives all cancelled on despatch by 'Fortaleza' datestamps (Nov 3) and in transit by 'Brazil / Pernambuco' cds's (Nov 6). Framed 'T' mark at left and manuscript '25 c.' altered to '50 c.' at base and charged with France Postage Due 5 c., 15 c and 30 c. black on arrival. Cover repair at lower left but an extraordinary usage.
