    1850 (Sept 30): Outer letter sheet, probably from Rio de Janeiro, endorsed 'Pr. Lion via Havre' to Hayle Foundry (a tin mine), Cornwall, UK struck with outstanding Laurel Wreath "Le Lion" ship handstamp at upper left in black. Red 'Outremer / Le Havre' entry mark (Dec 4) on front, reverse with London and Hayle (Dec 7) arrival cds. Rated 2/3 d. to pay in manuscript. Extremely rare cover, believed unique.
