    1777 (February 19): Entire letter endorsed for prepayment "Franco a la mano", mailed from Panamá to Guayaquil, Ecuador and struck with superb strike of contracted PANAMA handstamp in brown (Tizon 1 = EXT). The entire thanks the addressee for the receipt of 5'000 pesos and urges the prompt payment of the rest of the debt. The earliest recorded handstamped cover from either Colombia or Panamá, a rarity for the specialist.
