    4 reales red, an extraordinary example in a deep shade showing marginal frame line at left, position 92 from the lower left corner of the sheet-with a major variety "Ornaments at base partially missing"; used on circa 1871 cover front to Ambato in combination with large margined ½ real in watery blue and a horizontal pair of 1 r. yellow (positions 66-67) with left stamp showing plate variety "slash from centre circle to base". All stamps being tied by "Guaranda" datestamps (June 18) to front endorsed "13 oz.". Extremely unusual and colourful cover.
