  • Lot# : 4052 Brasil

30 reis black, Early Impression, the Interpane used block of four, Third Composite plate, positions 15-16/3-4 between upper and middle panes, the "founding piece" for the third plate theorised by Napier, being two separated and re-joined vertical pairs in a deep shade cancelled by "Correio Geral Da Corte" datestamps (April 26, 1845) in black. Together with the Pack Strip and Xifopagus, these two pairs show the format of the Third plate, these being the sole surviving examples of the interpane 30 reis. Illustrated and discussed in José Kloke "Die Ochsenaugen" on page 18. A few imperfections noted but due to the consummate scarcity of this piece these should be ignored as this item is a major rarity of Classical Philately. Unique.
    Provenance: Collection L.F. Filho (discovered 1950); N. Vianna(1971); R. B. Pracchia (1987); A. Lima (1995).
