    1870/71: 3 c. green and 10 c. brown (2) used on1873 cover to Bordeaux, France overpaying the 20 cent rate for letter over ½ ounce and under 2/3 ounce, mailed from New Orleans (June 16), with both "New York Paid/6" (erased) datestamp in red (June 21) and replacement strike of "New York Paid/12" in red at left. London transit (July 2) and Bordeaux arrival on reverse. Edge wear and a few minot imperfections but a most unusual 23 cent franking.
