    Typographed from electrotypes by Samuel Calvert 1857: Emblems Essay by Samuel Calvert for the 4 d. value, an Imperforate Proof on inferior quality paper, printed in brownish-vermilion, showing the head-plate markedly different to that eventually employed on the issued stamp; this believed to be Calvert's initial Essay for the 4 d. value.
