Overprinted "Protectorate" by Townshend 1888: Overprinted "Protectorate" by Townshend, 2 d. on 2 d. lilac & black, a horizontal pair used on 1890 Puzey correspondence cover from "Campagne Drift" on 25th June to East London, Cape; the entire letter written on the inside of the envelope due to lack of paper, tied by "SHOSHONG / BECHUANALAND" cds in black with MAFEKING transit cds adjacent (July 2). Reverse with East London hooded arrival (July 9).
