    1849: Essay 5 cs. orange, unadopted design, corner marginal, imperforate, printed on white wove unwatermarked paper, the design being very close to the issued stamp; the designer of this essay is unknown, although it is evidently based upon the 1840 Great Britain 1d. black and the 1847 Mauritius Post Office 1d orange; extremely fresh colour, vibrant impression, diagonal crease top right, otherwise very fine and attractive, one of only two known examples.
