    1854 (May 27): Entire letter from Marseille to Port Louis, Mauritius endorsed "via Suez", carried by the P&O steamer "Bengal" from Suez to Galle, thence by the "Argo" to Port Louis where struck with straight line "Late Received" and oval framed PACKET LETTER / MAURITIUS in red (July 10). Charged "1/1d." due in red manuscript (1d. due for town delivery).
