    1848 (Sept 17): Official cover sent registered to the Colonial Secretary in Sydney (Edward Deas Thomson at this date), struck with fine octagonal framed "FREE" in red with manuscript "Registered at Yass" above (the 6d. charge would have been paid in cash). Reverse with oval framed "YASS / ♚ / SE 17 / 1848 / NEW S. WALES" datestamp and oval "GENERAL POST OFFICE / ♚ / SYDNEY" arrival datestamps (Sept 19) in black.
