    B.O.A.C. Crash of Short S25 Sunderland Flying Boat 'G-AGES' from Nigeria - Lisbon - (Foynes) 1943 (July 28): 'DAMAGED BY / FIRE IN TRANSIT' purple cachet applied on P.o.W. postcard probably written in June 1942 by Pte. E. Cottam in Japanese P.o.W. Changi Camp in Singapore to Miss Cottam in England with violet Japanese- and red British censor marks. Card vertically folded, safed at the Mount Brandon crash July 28 1943 accompanied by headed letter of the British Prisoner of War Department (7th Sept. 1943) addressed to Ms. Cottham: ".... the mauve stamp appearing on the top left hand corner of the card indicates that it was despatched from Malaya, but there is a possibility that he may have been moved from the country since the card was written". Further letter from the Canadian Red Cross (June 19, 1946) concerning Pte. Edward Cottam, 'formerly Bitish Prisoner of War, Far East' Nierinck 430728.
