    Recess by Perkins Bacon 1857/59: 1 s. slate-violet, wmk. Star, imperforate, a used example with large margins all round overlapped by 1 d. deep blue, also with four margins and showing portion of adjoining stamp at top, on 1857 entire letter from Colombo endorsed "Via Alexandria" to Trieste, each cancelled by barred obliterator in black. Reverse with scarce usage of "COLOMBO / STEAMER LETTER" in black (Sept 13) and "Triest / Früh" arrival (Oct 12) in red and '9' kreuzer credit in manuscript.
