    1859: 5 c. 'verde giallo', four fine and fresh examples with good to large margins, well embossed, tied by light "MILANO 31 DEC 59" cds to entire letter directed to Mantova, reverse MANTOVA arrival cds (Jan 2) and distribution cachet. A most interesting item full of postal history, the four adhesives paying the inland rate after the 1859 war to the mew border between Sardinia and Veneto with Mantova staying with Austria until 1866.
