    1816 (Dec 13): Entire letter from Port Louis to Perth, Scotland struck on despatch with fair but very scarce "MAURITIUS / PACKET LETTER" oval handstamp in black (Dec 21). Carried by a Naval vessel via the Cape with arrrival in red (March 21, 1817) and rated at "9/4 d." in manuscript on arrival (not including the Scottish 'Wheel Tax' Additional ½ d.) with a Packet rate of 7 s. for a double letter, plus double inland rate from London to Perth of 2/4 d. to pay. Backstamped at Aberfeldy. A rare entire.
