    1839 (July 31): Official entire letter endorsed O.H.M.S. mailed within Sydney and redirected to Bathurst, struck with octagonal framed "5 / O'CLOCK" handstamp in red denoting following day delivery and handstruck '"2" (pence) for local rate in black.On redirection the "2" deleted in manuscript and re-rated at '9d.' due in manuscript for the 80 to 120 miles rate. Two vertical file folds do not detract from a rare and most attractive entire.rnProvenance: Collection A. They provided for threee local deliveries in Sydney: 9 am., 1 pm. and 5 pm. This last was disciontinued in the mid 1840's as many businesses closed prior to this time. The writer of the entire was Francis L.S. Merewether (1811-1899) who became Postmaster General in 1851.
