    Third war of Independence 1866 (Aug 20): Fieldpost envelope, despatched at the military headquarters and sent to Chambéry, forwarded to Saint-Jean-d'Angély, bearing 1863 DLR printing 40 c. rose-carmine, a fresh and fine single example, tied by crisp 'XXIX' numeral obliterator with "POSTA MILre ITAL. / QUARTIER GENERALE VII CORPO 20 AGO. 66" despatch cds alongside. Obverse struck in addition by "P.D." handstamp in back and French entry (Aug 23) cds in red. Reverse with CHAMBÉRY arrival and forwarding (Aug 24) cds's. Part of backflap missing, nevertheless a most interesting Fieldpost item, signed Calves; cert. E. Diena (1981).rnNote: The letter was written by Alexandre César Paul Marie d'Oncieu de la Bâtie (1838-1875), an officer of Savoyan roots who served the king of Sardinia. It was despatched after the armistice at the end of the Third War of Italian Independence, but prior to the final peace treaty of Vienna.
